Day 117---Sunday---on the way home

This is one of my favorite spots along that drive between my parents' house and my house. It's also outside Meridian, TX, which a town that claims to be the top of the hill country. This is one dramatic hill to come around
And here's a smattering of bluebonnets at this same stop. I love this time of year!

Day 116---Saturday---green in Texas

I totally changed my plans last-minute and went to my parents' house with J Saturday morning. B and Larry had plans, so they stayed at home. These were some of the green things I saw along the way . . .
Whenever I was traveling back and forth between college and "home," this was the first sign I was getting close. Mom and Dad live in Granbury. This sign is just outside Meridian, TX.

I count this as green because of the signs, they're green, but the scenery is also very green this time of year. The flowers were just gorgeous! In my part of the world, the bluebonnets are fading, but just this some 100 miles north, they were still looking good.

These were some longhorn cattle right close to my parents' house. We are not U of Texas fans AT ALL, but this hearty breed of cattle is out Texas state mammal.

I feel like I'm cheating on this one----the real subject is not the green, but the brown, white and black animals.

This was one I thought had to be pretty old because the horns are long---but I really know nothing about livestock. My hubby might enlighten me!

I didn't realize it at the time, with my small little screen, but the focus was in the wire fence instead of the cows! Aren't the horns amazing?

Day 115---Friday--green in sports

Tabblo: Green---Sport

B had games on Monday and Friday this week.  This is from the Friday game.  Lots of green again, for the week of green.

The left column is a sequence of pictures for B's second hit she made in the game---and the run she got.  Yea, B!

Day 114---Thursday---green, and other colors

I messed up and didn't take a really green picture today! But I did take this one of my BIG project hanging over my head. This is half of it anyway.
We make memory books for each child at our pre-school, and I have 16 kids in my class. Yesterday we had a workday dedicated to the scrapbooks, and I got a handle on what is still to be done before May 10th when I turn them in. Each book will have about 25-30 pictures of each child, a whole alphabet book (we did one page per week as we went through the letters), various "free art" pages the kids made this year, an end of year evaluation, cutting samples, writing samples, drawing samples, and a letter to each child. My class will also ahve the "graduation page." Actually, I love this part of my job----when it's finished! But it is a lot of work this time of year, every year.
I will make up for green photos on Friday---the theme will be sports and green.

Day 113---Wednesday---money

Here's what I had in my wallet today---most of this is from girls who paid me for their shirts at girl Scouts. I love this green dish towel, too. I got a set of three from Pier1 , and I love them. I was going to only add the link to the page with the towel, in case you love them, too, but the picture was so nice there, here it is! ;-)

Day 112---Tuesday---Green at home

This is a sort of Eye Spy picture
(All objects from my kitchen, living room, or the kids' rooms.)
I spy . . .
a Bionicle
Rabbits of unnatural color
something to . . . drink from
and drink with
something on which to write
something with which to write
two of the Littlest Pets
something that smells clean
a cleanser for hands and it's matching hand softener
a torch to light the way
and various other items. :-)

Day 111---Monday--Green plants

I am starting a week of color---green. Since I went crazy taking pictures today, I am trying a new thing-----

Tabblo: Week of Green----living things

For this color week, I am starting out with a Tabblo. I went all around town with my camera today finding green things that are living. There are so many green things in the spring, I found too many! Enjoy my Week of Green! ... See my Tabblo>

Tell me what you think!

Day 110---Sunday

Another shot from Tabitha Class---we made friendship bracelets tonight and they had a party for ME! I can't believe how many celebrations I had this year! One of the ladies brought everyone their favorite candy bars to eat. (She conveniently asked everyone last week what they liked.) This little bracelet came out patriotic. :-)

Day 109---Saturday

B helped wash both our vehicles today. She is getting sprayed by her daddy while she stands in the bed of his truck. She really requested that she be the picture of the day while washing the truck, but I liked this one best.

Day 108---Friday

I got a package from my sister, which included this angel figurine. Yea!! It's called "Bless This Kitchen" and it's by Jim Shore again. I only have the two of these, but I love them. :-) She also sent me some books from that book list I had on my other blog. Now I have some possible books for my book club. Thanks for the present, Rach!

Day 107---Thursday

The after game huddle---they won! 6 to 2. That's Larry standing on the right, and B was right there with him. Go Firecrackers!

Day 106---Wednesday

This is another train picture. I had to sit and wait today before I got to the kids' schools. But I made good use of my time---I got out my camera again. It seemed like this long train had lots of automobiles in the train cars. I always wonder if they're making them in, say, Michigan, and shipping them down to Houston.

Day 105---Tuesday

I was surprised today by my class of kids! They brought me presents, cupcakes, cards---it was all very sweet! These are my presents. I had to stage a picture---I didn't take pictures at school because my camera was at home. Quite a lot of fun things in there!

Day 104---Monday---It's my birthday!!

This is where I ate my real birthday dinner---Freebird's. It's a very cool burrito-made-to-order place. No, the image is not reversed, their logo has the backwards F. If you look close, the bricks spell "GiG 'EM" which is the Texas A&M version of "go team." The foil creations are traditional as well. My kids have left foil creations in three different locations.

I'm going to blog about my birthday soon---I have a couple of more pictures to share, including my birthday lunch with friends at a tea room.

Day 103---Sunday

I snapped this one picture today---out the windshield again! We were leaving the restaurant where I chose to have my birthday eve lunch. This was the "big eating out" dinner. :-) We ate "queso live!" and I had fajitas. Delicioso! Those are my husband's hands.

Day 102---Saturday

This is our B, hitting in her 2nd game. It was COLD! This will be my view for many Mondays (and several Thursdays and one Friday) until the middle of June. Daddy is pitching!

Day 101---Friday

I finished the knitting part of my scarf! I am planning on a little bit of fringe on the ends to make it ready to wear---but I have until this fall, right?

Day 100---Thursday

You can tell this is out the windshield of my car! I was stopped by a long train today, and had the camera handy. It's a little scary having all that power and weight so close to me, but it's exciting, too. Fortunately I was not in a hurry to get somewhere! I had just picked up the kids from school.

Day 99---Wednesday

I had to post three pictures today to kind of show the process for what we were doing. J took this picture of me and B in the kitchen. After the shirts sat for 24 hours (about), we rinsed them and rinsed them in the sink.

Then we untied them and rinsed them some more in the sink, until they were running almost clear water. Some ran clear-er than others----remember these were 7, 8, and 9 year old girls adding dye, so some were carried away with their dye! This shirt happens to be B's own shirt she did, inside out.

And the last steps happened in the washer. I washed two loads of shirts (about 25 total). I washed them with some Dawn diswashing liquid all the way through a cycle. I then ran it back and did the rinse cycle 3 times for each load. See how blue the water still is? I think this is in the final rinse cycle.

It was a fun project, but the hardest part was the rinsing in the sink. My hands got really tired of squeezing those wet shirts.

Day 98---Tuesday

This was my big day---I helped the Girl Scouts tie-dye their shirts. It was a crazy, hectic process, but they had a lot of fun.

Day 97---Monday

The fruits of my labor on Monday---folded clothes.

Monday, April 9, 2007

Day 96---Sunday

It is impossible to take a good picture of an egg hunt. Our tradition is to hunt eggs in the morning before church----the Easter Bunny hides them for us! so the kids just got up and hunted for eggs frantically, trying to get more than the other. There were plenty of eggs to find this year!

Day 95---Saturday

I couldn't resist two pictures for this day. I took about 30 pictures on just this day! Two shots from lunch---my plate at Fudrucker's in Houston. That is not mustard, but cheese to dip the fries in!

This is B of course----I let her get a milkshake with her dinner. We were celebrating Easter Eve and J's good performance at LTC.

Day 94---Friday

J (in the red) is in his drama skit at LTC in this pic. We don't know what kind of score he made, but it was very good. I was proud of the way he spoke up and made his lines nice and clear. The boys were buying a bird feeder, and the squirrels were "Unstoppable."

Day 93---Thursday

The yard is mowed! Yea! Dogs are jumping for joy. :-)

Day 92---Wednesday

The night before I ate at Taco Bell all by myself. I was waiting for J to get done with his Troupe activities. We always laugh at the sayings on the hot sauce packets.

Day 91---Tuesday

We were able to go shopping for new shoes for J since I got my paycheck today! Yea! He is tearing up his old tennisshoes in this picture. He got size 8 and a half this time. Maybe He will get taller than Larry!

Day 90---Monday

I read about 150 pages of this book by the end of this day!

Monday, April 2, 2007

Day 89---Sunday

I took this one of one of the church girls who had knitted up all the yarn she had during the last week. She is such a crafty girl----she has that creative gene! :-)

Day 88---Saturday

Our school district had an ArtFest today. We knew that B had artwork in the show, and were surprised to find out that J had something also. His art teacher said when she pulled his bowl out of the kiln, she said, "This has to go in the show." B's two pieces are flanking her---a Storyteller Doll (the one with all the yellow and blue and red), and her other one is to her left with a yellow mat.
Good Job, kids!
