Day 177---Thursday

We were at the last track meet for Summer track camp. Larry went to work at noon this day, so he got to come for the meet in the morning. I am glad all this is over, I think, but I will miss all the walking just already built into my personal schedule. B is resting in hte shade before another running race. She came home with two more ribons this meet---but she was disappointed in not getting more!

Day 176---Wednesday

Here is yet another picture of the SAME flower I took before this week! Sorry! I am planning on making a little slide show of it's growth from barely open to dying, even. Today the camera didn't get in my purse, so noghting new and exciting!

Day 175---Tuesday

We tried to swim at the pool, but it began to thunder in the area. We came out for a while to see if it would just pass by (they made us exit for safety!), and in the meantime, we had some snacks. And some silly! B and out younger friend had the same bathing suit.

Day 174---Monday

B had put together a cute outfit and hairdo. I just had to do a photo shot. This one's my favorite in natural light.

Day 173---Sunday

We've been growing flowers form seeds this summer and this is one shining example.

Day 172---Saturday

It was B's softball party, and I got this one of the three other people in my family. (And a random other pool-goer.) The girls from the team had a lot of fun. :-)

I like this picture better, though, a fast shot from my hubby as J goes down the slide (from a bridge above the slide).

Day 171---Friday

This is the mess B left in the living room. These dolls were on a picnic, and watching TV. She takes care and time to get each one sitting in just the right spot.

Day 170---Thursday

B got to run in the 4x100 relay today, thank goodness. We've had some sports disappointments this week, and I thought she needed this or she might just quit. Her team got 4th place ribbons for their efforts this day. She got a ribbon for every event that she did this day. (Last week---no ribbons!) She had a good day.

I took this picture of B's friend from school, and her baby sister. This is the same friend who's in Girl Scouts with her, and I put pictures of the baby on the blog before! She's growing up, but she's still only 2 and a half months old.

Day 169---Wednesday

Just so you know, I have some friends!! I'm the one in the striped shirt. I am sunburned a bit! It was P's birthday (she's in the gray), and we ate at Dairy Queen with all our kids.

Day 168---Tuesday bonus!

This was the day of pies.
I made a chicken pot pie for dinner. I sorta made it up from what I thought might make a pie, and I consulted y Mom to make sure I was combining good ingredients. Then we had some Key Lime Pie ice cream after dinner. This is a really good flavor, by the way!! The Lemon Ice Box Pie flavor is a really good, too. There are little bits of graham cracker in there, and some white creamy parts. It's yummy, and not too sweet. Everyone in Texas knows this is the best ice cream in the country!

Day 168---Tuesday

I have to reveal what the mystery art substance was in my "Day 159" post.
It was crunched up Froot Loops! (store brand, I think.) Fellow 365 blogger Marianne got it the closest, with a guess of cornflakes. ;-)
I took this picture in case I need to teach drawing perspective to anyone. I'm at track practice this morning, it's 8:30 and 80 degrees. Our high school track is really nice. Down at the other end of the track is B's group, form running. J is walking with me, and he had to stop at one mile because he was getting a blister on his heel. I did another 3 laps today----which is a mile and 3 quarters for me!

Day 167---Monday

This is B's first All Stars game. Our "visiting" team had to sit facing the sun today, so I didn't get any good pictures! It was very hot, and I think I'm sunburned. They lost---12 to 9. But we had a rally in the end that almost caught us up! They played well. We will play again on Tuesday. When/if we lose again, softball season is over!

Day 166---Sunday

I turned this . . . . . . into this!
I have a book of knitting instruction for girls, and this is one of the little basic projects that is available for a beginning knitter. I like how it came out. I finished it today.

Day 165---Saturday

This is what I started reading this week. I'm reading the book that is the upcoming movie. Next, I will go ahead and read book 6, so that when book 7 comes out next month, I will have all the story flowing in my brain. :-)

Day 164---Friday

This is softball from a Mom's perspective, always behind the chain-link fence. We had closing ceremonies for our league, and this is a picture of B's age group All-Stars team. We had 8 girls from our team and 4 from another. We have to turn around an dplay this coming Monday---no time to get to know the new girls! Larry is the tall guy in the center. He'll be their manager through the tournament.
I like this one because of all the colors on the shirts.
Here they are wearing their All-Star cap/visors. (B is on the left, of course, with her Daddy and friend.) We had a friend come spend the night, and it was so fun. :-)

Day 163---Thursday

It's Thursday, so it's track meet day!
She ended up with a VERY disappointing day, since she didn't get to run in a relay race. But she did do these two events---long jump and shot put. She didn't place in either one, but as I keep telling her, she's the youngest in her age bracket, so it's harder this year than last. All in all, a really disappointing day!
But she should be proud of herself---she's trying her hardest and learning how to do better all the time.

I like how you can see the shot (the really heavy ball!) in the air on this one. In the long jump picture, she's in midair, and I like that, too.

Day 162---Wednesday

It's just time again to post J's picture. He's just about to eat dinner, so I title this one: Hungry.

Day 161---Tuesday

I love these three trivets. They are hanging in a little spot for decoration, but they are handy right there, too.

Day 160---Monday

B drew her own hopscotch on our sidewalk. Everything looks so lush and green in our neighborhood! You can't tell by looking, but this is about 9:30, and it's already 85 degrees. It's steamy!

Day 159---Sunday

This was made by B, and I wanted to take a picture of it before it got all messed up. There is a small layer of purple on the bottom. Can you guess what it's made of?

Day 158---Saturday

It's dessert!
Chocolate Brownie ice cream
Bubble Gum ice cream

Day 157---Friday

Here are my bathing suit tops. (I am about to wash the one I wore today.) I ordered the teal/black one from JCPenney. I LOVE the fabric. The swim skit was too cute---mostly black with some of the flowers over on hip. I wore them to the pool on Wednesday, but I was not happy with the top. It was too revealing for me. So I found a black top that would go with my cute skirt. I LOVE that top! It is flattering and it doesn't show too much. :-) Now maybe one day this summer, I'll be brave enough to wear it in a picture. But I doubt it! ;-)

Day 156---Thursday

J is singing his solo in this shot. He's the one that's is sort of the 4th one in line, from the left.
I went to J's performance at his acting conference. He did his part great! They did songs from the composer Alan Menken: Be Our Guest, Part of Your World (Little Mermaid), and my two favorites Troupe has done before, Sieze the Day (Newsies), and Skid Row (Little Shop of Horrors). J sang a part of Be Our Guest. They changed all the words to welcome the groups attending the conference in our town. It was a hit with everyone!

Day 155---Wednesday

I'd been keeping my eye out for a new purse for the summer. But actually, it's to help with this blog---I wanted a purse big enough I could keep my camera in more easily! It's pretty big for me, but it's just what I was thinking of, and when I saw it for $15 at Target, I knew it was THE ONE.

Day 154---Tuesday

The Wedding
B played with her little dolls this afternoon, all the ones we've gotten in Happy Meals or whatever. The prince character was marrying a Barbie.

Day 153---Monday

B had a game this evening. They lost again, but some good things happened. Here, she was jumping with excitement when her teammate made an out.

Day 152---Sunday

I don't know what this is growing on this piece of wood, but it's interesting to me.

Day 151---Saturday

Here they are at the awards---7 wins in all!
The best awards probably were for "Father of the Year" for Larry and
"Outstanding Member of Seniors Repertory" for J
I'll have to list why they won the others later. It's late!
And I told you in the previous post I wasn't going, so I didn't take this one, but it has to be the picture of the day since both my guys are dressed up so nicely! The shades are making an appearance again! 8-)

Day 150---Friday

I was making cookies today. J and Larry are going to the Ovies tomorrow---the awards for J's troupe group. It is a fundraiser for their TNT conference next week, so tickets cost money and B and I aren't going. I am contributing to the event by baking cookies with musical theme and also stars. I love to see cookies all in a row!
This is an excellent sugar cookie recipe:
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
3 cups flour
Cream sugar and butter. Add in egg and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add in baking powder and one cup of flour. Beat until mixed well, and add in the rest of the flour one cup at a time.
No need to chill the dough!
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. roll out dough and cut into shapes. Bake for 7-9 minutes, depending on the size of your cookies.
This cookie cutter is from my Grandmother J.'s house. I think it was hers, but my Mom has one just like it. So maybe I have Mom's? Anyway, I like this cookie cutter because it reminds me of Christmas in Memphis when I was a little girl. Mom would make sugar cookies with these red cutters----treble clef, angel, reindeer. The smell makes me happy!

Day 149---Thursday

B and I finally have a morning glory flower from the seeds we planted way back when. This one is out by the mailbox. Our pots of flowers aren't as nice as the ones you can buy, but we're still enjoying all the blooms we do get. As you can see, we're even rejoicing over this pitiful-looking one that's been damaged!

Day 148---Wednesday

We had a make-up softball game today. This is B getting her run. Yea! They lost the game, though. Their team is having a rough time lately!

This bonus shot of J is mainly of his new sunglasses. If you know him, you know he needs eye protection from the sun. As a baby, he would cry when any sunlight hit his face. He had lazy eye, which I don't know if that hurt him more than it did anyone else, but I think it did.

Day 147---Tuesday

This is my house lately. Constantly. These are clothes hanging in my bedroom doorway. My dryer is out (I think it's just the heating element), so I have at least one load of clothes hanging to dry at all times. If I don't, I won't keep up with the laundry!
