Day 236---Sunday
I attended a "Diaper Shower" for one of the moms at our church Sunday afternoon. This is her second baby, so tradition is we give her a practical shower. One of the hostesses made this diaper cake---but we had another "real" cake to eat with a raspberry filling. Yum! I have a few more shots that came out nice, but this one looked the best.
Day 235---Saturday
I am cheating on this one---it was taken on Sunday. Ever since J sang "Hakuna Matata," I have an affection for Timon and this Pumba.
I was totally wiped out Saturday because I had stayed up all night until 5a.m. Yes!! Me! I had a sleep-over, or as B called it, a workover, at my school. We had a lot of fun and got a lot done.
Day 234---Friday
This wasn't taken on Friday---or by me! This was after I skated with B. My face is all red, I'm sweaty, but you can kind of see my haircut I just got on Thursday. Better picture later---I hope.
Yes, Mom I do have the too-hot face with the white around my mouth and unseen eyes. Rest assured, our next stop was to get a drink at Sonic.

Day 229---Sunday
I got J new shoes for school today. It's tax-free weekend in Texas, and I just had to spend some money on clothes. And because it was Buy One, Get One Half Off (this is BOGO!), I just had to buy one more pair---for me!!! (Not shown, but a brown/cream colored pair of sporty shoes.)
I had been trying to talk him into this style, but we finally found some he approved of, black with gray lines.
Day 228---Saturday
Today I went to a training that's required for all childcare workers in a licenced facility. Our center may get licensed this year (so far we've been under a religious umbrella and didn't have to be). Most of the people I work with had to be there. This is my friend Kristy and her two month old baby girl. She was distracting for me all day, but a welcome distraction! She didn't cause any trouble for us at the class.
Day 227---Friday
I still can't really figure out what to put in the china cabinet---I don't have real china, even pieces! But the china cabinet is where Larry's dad's flag ended up, and I think it's staying there.
Even though the wife traditionally gets the flag of a veteran, Martha's kids told Larry ahead of time that they thought he ought to have it. So the military guy presented it to Larry after the graveside service. The shells were from the 21-gun salute the old guys form the VFW shot off at the end of the graveside service.

Day 226---Thursday
B and I started this game yesterday and finished up this morning. We have modified the rules a bit. I want to encourage her, not discourage. I will help her with spelling---no penalties. And we decided to allow a "trade" of one letter at the beginning of a turn. It made me end up getting the Q and X after she put them back!! She came up with the word "rarity" (She put an extra i in it, but I let her keep the word.) Can you believe that? Also, it's a standing rule at our house that you can use Spanish words, if you know them. It's her "tu" up there in the corner.
Day 225---Wednesday
B and I have worked on this library of books at my workplace. It's 5 shelves tall, and sorted by subject. This day we got through "Transportation." I'm trying to inventory the books we have, to see what kinds of books we might still need.
Aren't they colorful? Our center is blessed to have such a large collection.
Day 224---Tuesday
J's---Grape, Lime, and Cherry (the dark one)
B's---Green Apple, Kiwi, and Pink Lemonade
Mine---Tangerine and Cherry
Mine was perfection in a Snowcone. Truly the best-tasting thing!!
Day 223---Monday
This is Layne's, near the A&M campus. They serve chicken strips and fries. That's it. You can have a chicken strip sandwich if you like, though. They have "famous" sauce----really peppery. It's a bit of a hole in the wall place. I had never been there until my sister took me this spring.
Larry overheard one lady telling a young man, "I can't believe I'm leaving here and not taking you home with me." It was probably a Mom leaving her freshman son for college for the first time.
I tried to take a picture of the rest of the family, but B made a face and kinda ruined the picture!

Day 222---Sunday
This is a plant we got from Larry's office that we were sure to take home. It's a big one, which reminds me of the one my mom had at her house after her mom's funeral. She took care if it a long while, so I hope I can do the same thing. I definitely like live plants versus cut flowers, although I think the arrangement for the top of the coffin was really beautiful.
Day 221---Saturday
Day 220---Friday
This was the day of the funeral.
Of course when there is a funeral, people get together who don't see each other very often. We had not seen this sibling pair in a long time. This is Ben and Jodi, who are Larry's niece and nephew. (The kids of his older brother, Mike, the 3rd child of his dad.) There is a family resemblance! We hadn't seen them in like 8 years, maybe? So they were teens the last we saw them. Now Ben is 24 and has a 2 year old boy and a stepson, age ten. Whew! Time flies.
It seemed too weird to take pictures at the funeral, but I almost wish I did. What is your feeling on that? We had the service at the funeral home, and then a Masonic service graveside plus a military 21-gun salute from the VFW. It was all pretty nice.
Day 219---Thursday
Day 218---Wednesday
I scanned this one in from some photos we were given this week. I believe this was Larry's dad on top of the logs, the little kid, and his parents. I am reminded so much this week that we were given only a short time with larry's dad. Even Larry didn't know him for half his life. Friday after the funeral we spent some time looking at these old photos, trying to figure out who was who.

Day 217---Tuesday
I made this for Larry's Dad for his birthday or something. It was in a 5x7 frame, and I made it with scrapbooking materials. Our J is just a little tot in these photos!
Yesterday (one day after L's Dad passed away---not even 24 hours!), her kids were taking our pictures out of her house and handing a sack of them to Larry. Maybe people don't mean to hurt feelings, but . . . really?!??!!

Day 216---Monday
This Monday, at about 6:30 in the evening, Larry's dad passed away. This Link will take you to a page on the web from the funeral home. It has a very nice bio about L's Dad that the family helped compose. Hopefully, they have corrected the birthdate--He was born Dec. 2, 1919.
Day 215---Sunday
I have not taken pictures this day, but with all our events this week, I am filling in.
Larry's dad passed away on Monday evening, so I thought I'd pull in some pictures of his Dad
This one includes his mom, who has also passed away in 1992, about a year after our wedding, where this picture was made.

Day 213---Friday
The National ASA (Softball) 18 and under tournament is in town, and Larry is scorekeeping for extra dough. He likes this; even said he'd do this all the time if he could. The kids and I visited him this evening. He will score-keep for any of the many tournaments that come to town, girls, men, co-ed, whatever. This time, he was announcing the games, too. Ahh . . . his voice all over the park!
